Pine Bush Elementary students had a visit from members of the Pine Bush Fire Department recently, to go over safety procedures for them and their families. Our volunteer firefighters talked to each class in the gym, explaining how important it is to get out of a building if there is a fire and to have a meeting place for their entire family.

A firefighter was in full gear, showing the students all of the equipment they wear to fire emergencies. He stressed there is nothing to be afraid of – firefighters are there to help!

Students learned all about the fire engine and the equipment it carries. They had the opportunity to go through the “smoke” house, learning to crawl on the floor since the smoke rises.

Some of our students got to see the firefighters in action! Shortly after they assembled at the smoke house and the fire engine, a call came through and the volunteers quickly packed up their gear and headed off to help their community!

Thank you to our community firefighters who take time from their busy schedules and come to our elementary schools to teach our students about fire safety. We so appreciate all you do for our schools and our entire community!
