League of Women Voters registering students to vote at PBHS

Our district promotes voting because we know our nation is stronger when more voices are heard! With that in mind, representatives from the League of Women Voters visited Pine Bush High School to promote voter registration to our students.

A group of high school kids sit and stand around a long table with a woman on the other side.

Pine Bush welcomed Ann Toner and Anne Sandro from the LWV to give students 16 and older the opportunity to register. Last week, Ms. Toner, who is no stranger to Pine Bush High School as she served as assistant principal there, and Ms. Sandro, who is on the board of the LWV, registered students during lunch periods. They will be back on Thursday, March 20, to continue their registrations.

Two high school kids stand near a round table where other high school kids are sitting. The standing kids are holding a large sign that says Register to Vote with a US flag as the background.

Members of the National Honor Society helped spread the word to their peers, explaining that those who are 16 could register in advance and will be able to vote when they are 18. Students must have their learner permit or driver license, or know the last four digits of their social security number in order to register.

Three high school kids - a boy and two girls, from left to right, smile and hld up a large sign that says Register to Vote with an American flag background.

This is all part of the district’s policy to promote voter registration to its students. The registration event is an annual happening. Thank you to PBHS English Department Chairperson Kelly Cooke for coordinating the event.

So register and let your voice be heard – vote!
