Students on certain bus routes will not have transportation Wednesday, Sept. 8

Hello Pine Bush families,

I apologize for this late notice, but I was just notified by officials at Birnie Bus Company that there will be a number of bus runs with no drivers for tomorrow.

If your child is assigned to one of these routes, and you are able to arrange transportation to and from school for them, I encourage you to do so. If you are unable to get your child to school tomorrow, know that I will be asking the schools to count the absence as an “excused” absence, due to the circumstances.

Birnie reps explained to me that several drivers on loan to our terminal last week had to return to their regular terminals because their schools didn’t start until this week. I have no explanation as to why I would not have known the extent of this problem until tonight, but as soon as I got this bad news, I knew you also needed to know in order to plan for tomorrow.

Our district transportation team will be working with the Birnie team to fashion a longer-term solution, but if your child is assigned to any of these routes they will not be picked up by Birnie tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 8:

  • Combo Crispell/ HS Routes: 400, 404, 414, and 421
  • Pine Bush HS Route: 141
  • Circleville MS Route: 654
  • Pine Bush Elementary Route: 341
  • Pakanasink Routes: 721 and 727
  • Special Ed. Route: Goshen BOCES 2
  • Over the Moon – Middletown location only

I know this is disruptive and I apologize for the late notification.

Thank you,

Tim O. Mains, Pine Bush Superintendent

Please note: Neither morning nor afternoon transportation is available for these routes.
