New York State released graduation rate figures for the 2018-2019 school year showing the Pine Bush Central School District with an overall graduation rate of 93 percent. This is up a percent from the previous two years.

“We are very happy and proud to hear this news,” said Pine Bush High School Principal Aaron Hopmayer. “Our teachers here at the high school are outstanding and their dedication to our students is unrivaled. Students respond to that. We have placed tremendous focus on preparing all of our students for the next chapter of their lives, whether it be college, a trade school, the military or the workforce.”

The state average graduation rate is 83 percent. Orange County’s average is 88 percent.

The breakdown

The graduation numbers are similar across all demographics.

• White – 93 percent
• Black/African American – 91 percent
• Hispanic/Latino – 91 percent

The graduation percentage for economically disadvantaged students is the same 93 percent as it is for not economically disadvantaged students.

Pine Bush High School offers a vast curriculum that includes college-level and advanced placement courses. The district offers full-year enrichment academies in education, engineering, human services, law and government, medical and Polaris University, which is a partnership with the motorsports company offering students a career-ready path.

In addition, the district offers summer enrichment academies in topics such as leadership and law, aviation, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), Fine Art and manufacturing, to name a few.

Mains. “Our goal is to offer students a well-rounded curriculum that provides the tools and knowledge they need to become good citizens and to achieve success in life. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all world and we have worked diligently to give our students the many options they need to find their passions.”
