Three cases of COVID-19 reported in district the week of Oct. 4; one each at PAK, PBHS, CVMS

There were three positive cases of COVID-19 reported during the week of Oct. 4 in the district: one at Pakanasink Elementary School on Monday, Oct. 4, one at Pine Bush High School on Wednesday, Oct. 6, and one at Circleville Middle School on Friday, Oct. 8.

In accordance with New York State Department of Health guidelines, contact tracing procedures have taken place for these cases and are complete.
We appreciate your understanding that we cannot identify any individuals who test positive by name. We will continue to communicate changes and updates with you.
It’s important to keep everyone updated when these situations arise in our buildings. If you have any specific questions or concerns, please contact Amy Brockner, assistant superintendent for Instruction.

Please continue to conduct at-home screenings and maintain personal awareness of COVID-19 symptoms for your children. Be sure to answer the phone if the health department contacts you, as a contact tracer may be trying to reach you with important information. Continue to check your child’s temperature each morning and check for any symptoms of COVID-19.

They include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Anyone with a fever of 100 degrees or more, or any symptom of COVID-19, must remain home and parents/guardians should contact their health care provider and school nurse for further procedures/protocols.

We are confident that the protocols we have put in place in our schools, including social distancing, the requirement for wearing a mask throughout the day, and cleaning and sanitizing practices, will help minimize the spread of this virus to others.
