NYS Department of Health lifts quarantine/testing requirements for domestic travel

Good evening Pine Bush Families and Staff,

I hope you are all enjoying this spring break! I wanted to reach out to you this evening to provide some recent updates and clarification regarding the current New York State Department of Health COVID-19 guidelines, specifically those surrounding travel.

I know there has been lots of buzz going around regarding what Governor Cuomo announced earlier this month regarding the lifting of travel restrictions for interstate trips. Pine Bush Central School District was waiting to receive confirmation from the New York State Department of Health that their guidance would align to the governor’s announcement.

Today, we have finally received that confirmation backing what the governor announced earlier this month. Domestic travelers will no longer need to quarantine or test, whether they are fully vaccinated or not, starting April 1, 2021.

This will be reflected on the NYS Department of Health website later this week.

Students, staff and their families may travel domestically without having to stay home or provide clearance to return to school or work afterwards.

All domestic travelers are still very much encouraged to monitor their symptoms and adhere to all distancing guidelines, mask wearing and frequent hand washing.

As always, please stay home when you are sick or not feeling well.

We will be changing the health screening questionnaire for students and staff to reflect this updated travel guidance.

Please be advised that quarantine is still mandatory for direct exposure to a confirmed positive person and for all international travel.

Have a pleasant evening,

Tim O. Mains, Pine Bush Superintendent
