Dear Circleville Middle School and Circleville Elementary School Communities:
This afternoon, Nov. 13, 2020, we learned about an individual who tested positive for the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) that was in both buildings earlier this week. In following Orange County Department of Health protocol, children and/or staff in direct or proximate contact with the positive case were sent home immediately to quarantine for fourteen days.
Fortunately, in this case, the exposure was limited to a small group of staff and students in the two buildings. Therefore, the buildings will not need to suspend in-person hybrid instruction and all other students will be able to continue with their current instructional model. Please understand that the scenario at Circleville Middle School is unique because of the limited number of contacts .
Please be aware that:
We are working with the Health Department to keep our community safe.
- We continue to follow the Health Department’s guidance for exposure and they will be contacting those that we have sent home to quarantine.
- We will clean and disinfect Circleville Middle School and Circleville Elementary School as per the New York State Department of Health guidance.
- Employees and sick children will not return to school/work until they are healthy after the Thanksgiving break.
Thank you for understanding that, due to medical privacy laws, we are not able to release the names of the individuals with COVID-19. We will continue to communicate changes and updates with you. With your participation, we believe we can maintain a safe learning environment for your children.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact my office.
Donna Geidel, Acting Superintendent of Schools
